Title: U.S. Proposals for CITES Appendix III; American Eel
Abstract: This action would add American eel to Appendix III of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). If adopted, exports of the species would require CITES documentation from the Service to ensure that foreign countries accept the shipments. This action may be necessary to monitor the impact of trade on the species in an effort to maintain healthy populations.
