Title: Endangered Species Act Section 7 Consultations
Abstract: This rule would update the policies and procedures for Endangered Species Act section 7 consultations to revise definitions and provide additional methods of compliance with the requirements of the Act. It has been over two decades since the regulations were updated, and changes are needed to reflect more recent advances in methods as required by case law. The rule would: Make technical changes to conform to existing practices and policy related to permitting; address streamlining the permitting and recovery planning processes; and improve the methods by which species are listed and critical habitat is designated.
