Title: Electronic Prescriptions for Controlled Substances
Abstract: DEA is revising its regulations to permit DEA-registered prescribers to write and sign prescriptions electronically. These revised regulations would be in addition to, not a replacement of, the existing rules. These regulations are needed to give pharmacies, hospitals, and practitioners the ability to use modern technology for controlled substance prescriptions, while maintaining the closed system of distribution of controlled substances dispensing.
