TREAS/DO RIN: 1505-AB93 Publication ID: Fall 2008
Title: Terrorism Risk Insurance Program Reauthorization Act of 2007 Implementation
Abstract: As the statutorily authorized administrator of the Terrorism Risk Insurance Program, Treasury is issuing interim final regulations to implement the Program. On December 26, 2007, the President signed into law the Terrorism Risk Insurance Program Reauthorization Act of 2007, extending the Program until December 31, 2014, revising the definition of "act of terrorism," and containing other new statutory requirements which were effective immediately. On January 29, 2008, pending the issuance of regulations, interim guidance was published in the Federal Register to assist insurers and others in complying with the Program’s mandatory availability requirements and disclosure notice requirements. This rule addresses the same requirements previously addressed in the interim guidance and also conforms Program regulations with the already effective statutory changes to the definitions of "act of terrorism," "Program Years," and "insurer deductible" and the calculation of the Federal share of insured losses.
