Title: Consumer Price Index Adjustments of Oil Pollution Act of 1990 Limits of Liability--Vessels and Deepwater Ports
Abstract: Pursuant to 33 U.S.C. 2704(d), this regulatory project will propose new regulations to adjust limits of liability provided under the Oil Pollution Act of 1990, at 33 U.S.C. 2704, to reflect significant increases in the Consumer Price Index (CPI). This rulemaking supports the Coast GuardÂ’s Strategic Goals of Maritime Stewardship and Maritime Safety. Market Failure: This regulation will allow affected industry to adequately respond to costs associated with marine pollution incidents as a result of adjusting limits of liability to include significant increases in CPI.
