Title: Fire Bottle Requirements (Extinguishing Agent Containers)
Abstract: This rulemaking would change the requirements for the pressure discharge of extinguishing agent containers as to the location of the discharge and the means to detect a discharge. This rulemaking would align the operational requirements for part 135 on-demand operations with 10 or more passengers, and certification requirements of part 25 regarding over-pressurization and thermal discharge of airplane extinguishing agent containers or fire bottles to prevent bursting. This action would also eliminate the requirement for an over-pressurized fire bottle to discharge extinguishing agent outside an airplane to prevent bursting and change the requirement for the indicator to be located at the discharge nozzle, as newer non-corrosive extinguishing agents can now be discharged inside an airplane without degrading an airframe.
