Title: FMVSS No. 208, Update of Appendix A
Abstract: This rulemaking would amend the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 208, for occupant crash protection, to update the child restraints listed in Appendix A. These child seats are used in air bag suppression and low risk deployment testing. If adopted, the amendments would replace existing Child Restraint Systems (CRSs) listed in Appendix A with CRSs that are more representative of the CRS fleet currently on the market. There are no other proposed changes to the test procedures of FMVSS No. 208 that would result in increased economic burden. This rulemaking action seeks only to refresh an existing list of child restraints and reduce the regulatory burden of requiring the use of child restraints that are no longer in production.
