Title: Pipeline Safety: Polyamide-11 (PA-11) Plastic Pipe Design Pressure
Abstract: This rulemaking would revise the Federal pipeline safety regulations in 49 CFR part 192 to allow thermoplastic pipelines made from new Polyamide-11 (PA-11) pipe to be designed and operated at higher operating (internal) pressures. The rulemaking accomplishes this by raising the internal pressure design factor and design pressure limits in part 192 for new PA-11 pipe. The improved technical performance of PA-11 pipe allows it to be operated safely at higher operating (internal) pressures and provides pipeline operators an additional option for new pipeline installations and/or the replacement of pipe in existing pipelines.
