Title: Work Study and Miscellaneous Statutory Changes in Education Provisions
Abstract: This proposed rule amendment will bring VA's educational assistance regulations into agreement with the Veterans Program Enhancement Act of 1998 and Veterans Education and Expansion Act of 2001. This amendment will include making advance payments to work-study students optional rather than mandatory. This rule is being amended to reflect additional work study opportunities provided under the Veterans Education and Benefits Expansion Act of 2001. It also reflects the clarified ending date of these opportunities enacted in the Veterans Benefits Act of 2002 and the extended sunset date enacted in Public Laws 108-375, 109-461, and 110-157.
