Title: Grants to States for Construction and Acquisition of State Home Facilities--Update of State Authorized Beds 
Abstract: To amend VA regulations regarding Grants to States for Construction or Acquisition of State Homes to update the maximum number of beds for each State, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands. The law requires that, not less often than every 4 years, VA must review and, as necessary, revise the maximum number of State home beds permitted for each State. 38 U.S.C. 8134(a)(4). It has been almost 6 years since VA originally established the maximum number of State home beds for each State. The feasibility of VA's participation in all bed-producing projects in FY 2008 needs to be considered using the maximum numbers for each State that have been reviewed and, if necessary, revised. This interim final rule thus must be published by August 15, 2007, in order to apply to bed-producing applications on the FY 2008 priority list. 38 U.S.C. 8135(a)(4).
