Abstract: Section 102(a) of the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (CPSIA), Public Law 110-314, 122 Stat. 3016 (August 14, 2008), requires the Commission to publish requirements for the accreditation of third party conformity assessment bodies (laboratories) to assess conformity with the standard for lead paint by September 13, 2008. On September 2, 2008, the Commission staff sent a draft notice to the Commission regarding requirements for the accreditation of third party conformity assessment bodies to assess conformity with the standard for lead paint. The Commission voted to approve the notice on September 12, 2008, and the Notice of Requirements was published in the Federal Register on September 22, 2008. | |
