Title: Amendment of Federal Policy Regarding the Collection and Protection of Social Security Numbers 
Abstract: This rule is designed to achieve a consistent and effective policy for the use of Social Security Number(s) by Federal agencies to combat identity theft. This proposed regulation imposes significant restrictions on the use of Social security Number throughout the Federal Government and is consistent with the recommendations made by the PresidentÂ’s Identity Theft Task Forces.
