Abstract: OSHA proposes to revise its regulations for the federally funded On-site Consultation Program to: a) provide a 1-year deletion from OSHAs programmed inspection schedule for those employers who request and receive a full service safety and health, consultation visit; agree to correct identified hazards within established time frames; post notice of identified hazard(s) and begin to implement procedures for regularly identifying and preventing hazards; b) provide a deferral from OSHAs programmed inspection schedule for up to 18 months for those employers working toward achieving recognition and exemption status; c) extend the deletion period from OSHAs programmed inspection schedule for a period of up to 2 years for those employers participating in OSHAs recognition and exemption program; and d) allow Compliance Safety and Health Officers to proceed with enforcement visits resulting from referrals at sites undergoing Consultation visits and at sites that have been awarded Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) status. Note: SHARP is a recognition program that OSHA administers to provide incentives and support for small employers to develop, implement, and continuously improve effective safety and health programs at their worksites. | |
