Title: ●Test Procedures for Residential Central Air Conditioners and Heat Pumps
Abstract: The Energy Independence and Security Act (EISA) of 2007 amends the Energy Policy and Conservation Act (EPCA) to require that any final rules establishing or revising a standard for a residential product adopted after July 1, 2010 incorporate standby and off mode energy use. In addition, EISA amends EPCA to allow the Secretary to consider the establishment of separate standards by geographic region for residential air conditioners and heat pumps. In a related rulemaking, DOE is scheduled to issue energy conservation standards for residential air conditioners and heat pumps no later than June 2011. DOE is reviewing the test procedures for these products.
