Title: ●Delay of Effective Date for Use of Hybrid III 6-Year-Old Dummy in FMVSS No. 213 Child Restraint Systems
Abstract: This rulemaking would delay the date of required use of the Hybrid III 6-year-old (HIII-6C) dummy in Federal motor vehicle safety standard (FMVSS) No. 213 to August 1, 2010. On January 23, 2008, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration published a Supplemental Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (SNPRM) that proposed procedures for positioning the HIII-6C and 10-year-old dummies in booster seats for FMVSS No. 213 compliance testing. As part of this SNPRM, in order to allow manufacturers sufficient time to incorporate this seating procedure into their compliance testing with the HIII-6C dummy, the Agency proposed to postpone the required use of the HIII-6C in FMVSS No. 213 (currently August 1, 2008) until August 1, 2010.
