Title: Adjustments to the Minimum and Maximum Civil Monetary Penalties for Violations of Federal Railroad Safety Laws or Federal Railroad Administration Safety Regulations | |
Abstract: This rulemaking would adjust the minimum penalties that the Federal Railroad Administration will apply when assessing a civil penalty for violations of railroad safety statutes and regulations under its requirement to comply with the Federal Civil Penalties Inflation Adjustment Act of 1990. The rulemaking would also adjust the ordinary and aggravated maximum penalties pursuant to the agency´s increased authority created by the Rail Safety Improvement Act of 2008. FRA is increasing the minimum civil penalty to $650, the ordinary maximum civil penalty to $25,000, and the aggravated maximum civil penalty to $100,000. | |
