Title: ●Safety Appliance Standards, Miscellaneous Revisions
Abstract: This rulemaking would revise the Federal Railroad Administration´s Safety Appliance regulations in 49 CFR part 231 to further advance the safety of railroad employees and contractors engaged in activities requiring them to work on and around safety appliance apparatuses. In doing so, FRA will incorporate by reference into the Safety Appliance regulations the existing industry standards for safety appliances on modern rail car designs, which take into account ergonomic standards; and establish a process for incorporating future railcar and locomotive designs as they are developed by the industry.
