Title: Standard for All-Terrain Vehicles
Abstract: Section 232 of the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (CPSIA) requires the Commission to publish the American National Standard for Four Wheel All-Terrain Vehicles (ANSI/SVIA 1-2007) as a mandatory consumer product safety standard in the Federal Register by November 12, 2008. The standard establishes equipment, configuration and other requirements for four-wheel ATVs. In addition, section 232 of the CPSIA requires that ATVs must have on file with the Commission, and comply with, an action plan that establishes certain other safety requirements. All ATVs manufactured or imported on or after the date that is 150 days after publication of the Federal Register notice publishing the ANSI/SVIA standard must comply with the requirements of the standard and of the applicable action plan. The Commission published the ANSI/SVIA standard as an incorporation by reference.
