Title: Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP): At-Risk Afterschool Meals
Abstract: This proposed rule would revise the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) regulations to allow reimbursement of meals provided by at-risk afterschool care programs in 13 States. Six States were initially authorized by the Agricultural Risk Protection Act (Pub. L. 106-224). At-risk meals in these States (Delaware, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Missouri, New York, Oregon, West Virginia, Maryland, Vermont, Connecticut, Nevada, and Wisconsin) and the District of Columbia are reimbursed under the same conditions set forth in the National School Lunch Act (NSLA) for at-risk snacks in the CACFP. Children who are 18 or younger and participating in qualifying afterschool programs located in the eight States may receive free meals. To qualify, afterschool care programs must be located in low-income areas, provide care to children, and have an educational or enrichment purpose. (01-007)
