USDA/GIPSA RIN: 0580-AB11 Publication ID: Fall 2010
Title: Fees for Commodity Inspection Services (Excluding Rice)
Abstract: GIPSA proposes to revise the regulations under the Agricultural Marketing Act of 1946 that govern fees charged by GIPSA's Federal Grain Inspection Service for sampling, inspection, weighing, and certification of processed and graded commodities, excluding rice. At the beginning of FY 2011, GIPSA would increase the hourly rates and unit fees assessed to applicants for inspection by approximately 17 percent. In addition, the fees assessed to applicants for inspection and laboratory testing services would be increased to reflect the actual cost of providing those services. GIPSA would also establish a new fee for consultative services not associated with official inspection and weighing services (i.e., foreign travel) that corresponds to an existing fee charged by GIPSA under the United States Grain Standards Act, as amended.
