USDA/FNS RIN: 0584-AE05 Publication ID: Fall 2010
Title: ●Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR): Income Deductions
Abstract: This proposed rule would amend regulations for the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR) at 7 CFR 253.6. The changes are intended to improve the administration of FDPIR and service to program applicants and participants, and respond to a resolution passed by the membership of the National Association of Food Distribution Programs on Indian Reservations (NAFDPIR). The proposed provisions would promote conformity with the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) by aligning FDPIR and SNAP regulations. The Department is proposing amendments that would: (1) Expand the current income deduction for Medicare Part B Medical Insurance and Part D Prescription Drug Coverage premiums to include other allowable monthly medical expenses in excess of $35 for households with elderly and /or disabled members, and (2) establish an income deduction for excess shelter expenses.
