Title: Implementation of Violence Against Women and Justice Department Reauthorization Act of 2005 for HUD Programs Under the U.S. Housing Act of 1937 (FR-5056)
Abstract: This final rule follows an interim rule that revised HUD's regulations for its public and assisted housing programs authorized under the United States Housing Act of 1937 (42 U.S.C. 1437 et seq.) to conform to these regulations the statutory amendments made by the Violence Against Women Act of 2005 (Pub. L. 109-162). The statutory changes enable public housing agencies to serve the needs of child and adult victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, or stalking. This final rule adopts as final the regulations in the November 28, 2008, interim rule with certain clarifying changes made in response to public comment, and with some restructuring of the regulations to improve organization within the Code of Federal Regulations.
