Title: ●Revised Implementing Regulations for Requirements To Publish Textual Descriptions of Boundaries of Critical Habitat 
Abstract: We (FWS and NMFS; also collectively referred to as the Services) propose to revise the implementing regulations contained within title 50 of the Code of Federal Regulations, sections 17.94(b), 226.101, 424.12(c), 424.16(b) and (c)(ii), and 424.18(a), as they relate to publishing textual descriptions of proposed and final critical habitat boundaries in the Federal Register. In the interest of efficiency, saving taxpayer monies, and making the process of designating critical habitat more user-friendly for affected parties, the public as a whole, and the Services, we are proposing to maintain the publication of maps of proposed and final critical habitat designations, but make optional the inclusion of any textual description of the boundaries of the designation in the Federal Register. Although the boundaries of critical habitat as mapped or otherwise described in the Regulation Promulgation section of a future rulemaking that is published in the Federal Register will be the official delineation of the designation, we will provide the public with easier to use and more accessible tools that represent the Services' interpretation of which areas are covered by the designation. These tools will be available on the Internet and at the applicable FWS or NMFS office.
