Title: ●Control of Air Pollution From New Motor Vehicles: Tier 3 Motor Vehicle Emission and Fuel Standards
Abstract: This rule will establish new standards for light-duty vehicles and their fuels in order to reduce emissions of criteria and toxic pollutants and their impact on air quality and health. This action will set forth a comprehensive approach toward regulating motor vehicles for non-greenhouse gas pollutants, as requested by a May 2010 Presidential memorandum. In addition, the Clean Air Act requires EPA to consider whether there will be adverse air quality effects of the renewable fuel volumes required by the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 and to issue fuels standards to mitigate them; this rule will quantify the impacts of renewable fuels on air quality and health and its standards will help mitigate these impacts. The standards in this rule will lead to reductions in ozone, particulate matter, nitrogen dioxide, and mobile source air toxics.
