Title: Inward Leakage Requirements for Respirators
Abstract: NIOSH plans to re-issue this NPRM in response to public comment. The proposed rule will improve certification requirements for half-mask air-purifying particulate respirators and establish performance requirements for an alternate class of half-mask air-purifying respirators to prevent inward leakage of contaminants through the face seal and evaluate non-filter components. The rule would supplement existing requirements for testing the performance of the filter and thus provide manufacturers greater flexibility in their applications.
