Title: Oil and Gas Leasing Cessation of Production
Abstract: The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) proposes to amend its oil and gas regulations to make the cessation of production rules consistent with the Mineral Leasing Act. Currently, for a lease in its extended term, the regulations allow a Federal oil and gas lessee 60 days from the BLM notification of cessation of production to come into compliance with the regulations, or the lease terminates. The Mineral Leasing Act allows 60 days from the cessation of production, rather than 60 days from the BLM's notification, for the lessee to come into compliance.
