Title: Endangered and Threatened Wildlife and Plants; Listing Determination for Dunes Sagebrush Lizard
Abstract: We have proposed listing the Dunes sagebrush lizard (Sceloporus arenicolus) as endangered under the ESA throughout its range in eastern New Mexico and western Texas, and will make a final listing determination. Currently a candidate for listing under the ESA (under the old common name "sand dunes lizard" but same scientific name), the species occupies a very limited range in these two States. Note: the species' common name has recently changed, from sand dunes lizard to Dunes sagebrush lizard, because the common name "sand dunes lizard" was already in use for another species.
