Title: ●Endangered and Threatened Wildlife and Plants; Listing Determination and Critical Habitat Designation for the Coral Pink Sand Dunes Tiger Beetle
Abstract: We will make a listing determination and designate critical habitat for the Coral Pink Sand Dunes tiger beetle (Cicindela albissima) pursuant to the Endangered Species Act. The species occurs only at the Coral Pink Sand Dunes, Kane County, in south-central Utah, and is restricted to approximately 234 hectares (577 acres) of habitat within the dune field. Drought conditions have suppressed the beetle's reproductive capabilities. In addition, the beetle's habitat is being adversely affected by ongoing recreational off-road vehicle use. The beetle's population also is vulnerable to overcollecting by professional and hobby tiger beetle collectors.
