Title: ●Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment ProgramChanges to Subsistence Allowance
Abstract: This interim final rule amends Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) regulations to reflect changes made by the Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Improvements Act of 2010. Accordingly, a veteran, who is entitled to a chapter 31 subsistence allowance and chapter 33 educational assistance, may elect to receive a payment based on military housing allowance instead of the regular subsistence allowance. In addition, payments of allowances during periods between school terms are discontinued, and payments during periods of temporary school closings are modified. This rulemaking amends VA regulations consistent with this new authority.
