Abstract: The Coast Guard proposes to revise the Vessel Traffic Service (VTS)-related regulations in 33 CFR part 161. The proposed revisions will establish a mandatory-participation VTS in Port Arthur, Texas; consolidate two existing VTS Special Areas in Puget Sound, Washington into one expanded VTS Special Area, and make two minor revisions to the VTS regulations. One revision will update the designated frequencies for the Maritime Mobile Service Identifiers for Louisville, KY and Los Angeles/Long Beach, CA; the other revision will amend an outdated reference to the term "Dangerous Cargo" to the updated term "Certain Dangerous Cargos."
