Title: ●FMVSS No. 121, Air Brake Systems; Response to Petition for Reconsideration
Abstract: This rulemaking would respond to a petition for reconsideration of a July 27, 2011 final rule. In response to earlier petitions, the agency made small adjustments to the new stopping distance requirements for truck tractors when tested from initial speeds below 60 mph. In this new petition, the petitioners ask for (1) additional lengthening of the lower initial speed stopping distance requirements for non-typical truck tractors, and (2) that stopping distance requirements for 20 and 25 mph initial speeds be removed from the standard, since they do not apply to any truck tractors. Granting or denying the first requested change would have little to no associated costs. Granting or denying the second requested change would have no associated costs.
