Title: ●Redesign of Statewide Automated Child Welfare Systems (SACWIS)
Abstract: This rule would amend the Statewide Automated Child Welfare Information System (SACWIS) regulations to increase flexibility to States and tribes in the design, development, implementation, and operation of information systems to support the administration of State and tribal plans for title IV-B and IV-E. The initial SACWIS regulations were written in 1993. Since then, the program environment and technology capabilities have significantly changed. This regulatory revision will help child welfare and foster care agencies take advantage of emerging business processes and new technologies. This NPRM proposes to replace the current SACWIS regulations in their entirety. The NPRM also will amend fiscal regulations pertaining to SACWIS systems.
