EPA/AR RIN: 2060-AR85 Publication ID: Spring 2013
Title: ●Regulation of Fuels and Fuel Additives: Additional Qualifying Renewable Fuel Pathways under Renewable Fuel Standard Program; Addressing Invasive Species Concerns for Giant Reed and Napier Grass
Abstract: On January 5, 2012, EPA proposed that renewable fuel made from giant reed (Arundo donax) and napier grass (Pennisetum purpureum) met the greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction requirements for cellulosic biofuel under the requirements of the renewable fuels standards (RFS) program. Comments on that proposal focused on the potential for these crops to behave as invasive species. This final rule will make a final determination those pathways.
