Title: ●Long-Chain Perfluoroalkyl Carboxylate Chemical Substances; Significant New Use Rule
Abstract: Under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), EPA is proposing to amend a significant new use rule (SNUR) for long-chain perfluoroalkyl carboxylate (LCPFC) chemical substances by designating manufacturing (including import) or processing of all LCPFAC chemical substances for any current use that will not be ongoing after December 31, 2015, as a significant new use; and designating manufacturing (including import) or processing of all other LCPFAC chemicals substances for which there are currently no ongoing uses, as a significant new use. Persons subject to these SNURs would be required to notify EPA at least 90 days before commencing any significant new use. The required notifications would provide EPA with the opportunity to evaluate the intended use and, if necessary, to prohibit or limit that activity before it occurs.
