Title: ●Ejection Mitigation Reconsideration
Abstract: This rulemaking would respond to petitions for reconsideration of the January 19, 2011 final rule establishing FMVSS No. 226, Ejection Mitigation. The petitions pertained to detailed test procedure issues (i.e., clarification to the minimum allowable distance between targets, test procedure accuracy, vehicle test attitude, head skin cleaning specifications, etc.), exemption requests (i.e., grab-handles, rows with structural dividers, school buses, etc.) and to the lead time and phase-in schedule. The final rule will make minor modifications and clarifications to the standard in response to these issues.
