TREAS/CUSTOMS RIN: 1515-AD76 Publication ID: Fall 2013
Title: Members of a Family for Purposes of Filing a CBP Family Declaration
Abstract: This document amends U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations pertaining to the eligibility for filing a single customs declaration for members of a family traveling together upon arrival in the United States. Specifically, CBP is broadening the definition of the term "members of a family residing in one household" for filing a family customs declaration to more accurately reflect relationships between members of the public who are traveling together as a family. This amendment could also help to facilitate passenger processing by reducing the amount of paperwork for CBP officers and allowing more travelers to benefit from the family grouping of exemptions for articles acquired abroad.
