Title: Implementation of MARPOL Annex V Amendments 
Abstract: The Coast Guard published an Interim Final Rule (IFR) with request for comments to put revised implementing regulations in place for the U.S. when the MARPOL Annex V amendments entered into force internationally on 1 January 2013, while still allowing for changes as a result of public comment. The International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution of Ships (MARPOL) Annex V (Garbage) amendments were adopted by the International Maritime Organization's Marine Environmental Protection Committee (MEPC) in July 2011 and took effect 1 January 2013. As a Party to the MARPOL Convention, the U.S. revised its domestic regulations in 33 CFR 151 as necessary to conform to the new requirements of Annex V.
