Title: Stage 3 Helicopter Noise Certification Standards
Abstract: This rulemaking would adopt noise standards for helicopters. This noise standard would ensure that the latest available noise reduction technology is incorporated into new helicopter designs. The noise standard would apply to any applicant seeking to noise certify a new helicopter type design on and after the effective date of the final rule. It is intended to provide uniform noise certification standards for stage 3 helicopters certificated in the U.S. and for helicopters that meet the ICAO annex 16 Helicopter chapter 8 and chapter 11 noise standards adopted on June 29, 2001.
