Title: Minority Depository Institution Preservation Program
Abstract: NCUA is proposing an Interpretive Ruling and Policy Statement (IRPS) to establish a Minority Depository Institution Preservation Program that recognizes the importance of minority credit unions and the unique challenges they often face in serving their communities. To meet the mandate of Section 367 of the Dodd Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2010, the IRPS implements an outreach program designed to preserve and encourage minority ownership in the credit union industry. This IRPS also proposes a policy statement, definition of a minority credit union and the applicable minority groups, and types of technical assistance available. NCUA is awaiting public comments on the proposed IRPS.
