Title: Energy Conservation Standards for Small, Large, and Very Large Commercial Package A/C and Heating Equipment
Abstract: Pursuant to section 5(b) of the American Energy Manufacturing Technical Corrections Act (Pub. L. No. 112-210), the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is initiating an effort to determine whether to amend the current energy conservation standards for certain commercial air-conditioning and heating equipment. DOE will determine whether national standards more stringent than those that are currently in place would result in a significant amount of additional energy savings and whether those national standards would be technologically feasible and economically justified. Because the standards for this equipment have not been updated within the past six years, DOE must issue either a determination that the standards do not need to be amended or a notice of proposed rulemaking to amend standards by December 31, 2013.
