DHS/USCBP RIN: 1651-AB00 Publication ID: Fall 2014
Title: Small Vessel Reporting System
Abstract: As part of a comprehensive effort to improve the security of our nation's borders while enhancing legitimate travel, specifically for boaters, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is proposing to amend the regulations establish the Small Vessel Reporting System (SVRS). This voluntary program would allow CBP to expedite processing for certain persons arriving in the United States by pleasure vessel after submitting in advance of arrival a float plan to CBP containing specified information about their voyage. CBP has been operating SVRS as a pilot program since 2010. Based on the successful operation of the pilot, CBP now proposes to establish SVRS as an ongoing voluntary regulatory program.
