Title: ●Extension Cords
Abstract:

Staff is preparing for Commission consideration a proposed rule that would amend the substantial product hazard list in 16 CFR part 1120. The rule would specify that extension cords be deemed a substantial product hazard if one or more readily observable characteristics is absent. Such a rule is authorized by 15 USC 2064(j) in cases where readily observable product characteristics are addressed by voluntary standards that have been effective in reducing the risk from such characteristics and there is substantial compliance with such standards. Staff is preparing an NPRM briefing package for Commission consideration.
