Title: Minority Depository Institution Preservation Program | |
Abstract:
NCUA previously proposed an Interpretive Ruling and Policy Statement (IRPS) to establish a Minority Depository Institution Preservation Program that recognizes the importance of minority credit unions and the unique challenges they often face in serving their communities. To satisfy the mandate of section 367 of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2010, the IRPS would implement an outreach program designed to preserve and encourage minority ownership in the credit union industry. The IRPS also proposed a policy statement, definition of a minority credit union and applicable minority groups, and types of technical assistance available. NCUA is considering the nine public comments received and will move forward to finalize the IRPS. |
