Title: Amendment 32 to the Fishery Management Plan for the Snapper-Grouper Fishery of the South Atlantic Region
Abstract: Based on a recent stock assessment, the National Marine Fisheries Services (NMFS) determined the blueline tilefish stock in the South Atlantic is experiencing overfishing and is overfished and so notified the Council on December 6, 2013. As mandated by the Magnuson-Stevens Act, NMFS and the South Atlantic Fishery Management Council must prepare and implement a plan amendment and regulations to end overfishing immediately and rebuild the blueline tilefish stock by December 6, 2015. The Council and NMFS plan to end overfishing and rebuild the stock through proposed management actions in Amendment 32 to the Fishery Management Plan for Snapper-Grouper. Management actions currently being considered are a commercial trip limit, recreational bag limit, and a rebuilding plan for blueline tilefish.
