Title: International Fisheries; Western and Central Pacific Fisheries for Highly Migratory Species; Restrictions on the Use of Fish Aggregating Devices in Purse Seine Fisheries for 2015
Abstract: This rule established seasonal prohibitions and other restrictions on the use of fish aggregating devices by U.S. purse seine vessels in the western and central Pacific Ocean for 2015. The rule partially implements a decision of the Commission on the Conservation and Management of Highly Migratory Fish Stocks in the Western and Central Pacific Ocean; other components of the decision will be implemented through separate rulemakings. The decision is intended to reduce or otherwise control the fishing mortality rates of bigeye, yellowfin, and skipjack tuna stocks. This action is necessary for the United States to satisfy its obligations under the Convention on the Conservation and Management of Highly Migratory Fish Stocks in the Western and Central Pacific Ocean, to which it is a Contracting Party.
