Title: Department of Defense Personnel Security Program (PSP) | |
Abstract:
The Department of Defense published a final rule on April 1, 2014 (79 FR 18161-18167). The rule became effective on May 1, 2014. The final rule updated policies and responsibilities for the Department of Defense Personnel Security Program (PSP) in accordance with the provisions of current U.S. Code, Public Laws, and Executive Orders. The rule established policy and assigned responsibilities related to the operation of the DoD PSP, including investigative and adjudicative policy for determining eligibility to hold a national security position. The rule also established investigative and adjudicative policy for the Department’s personal identity verification (PIV) credential. This amendment rule is being published to remove section156.6 in its entirety since this information is now included in 32 CFR part 157. Section 156.6 was put in place to allow time for 32 CFR part 157 to be written, coordinated, approved, and published. This is an administrative action to remove duplicative information that now exists in two rules.
