Title: Removal of the Expiration Date for State Disability Examiner Authority to Make Fully Favorable Quick Disability Determinations and Compassionate Allowances
Abstract: We propose remove the sunset date from our rule authorizing State agency disability examiners to make fully favorable determinations without the approval of a State agency medical or psychological consultant in claims that we consider under our quick disability determinations (QDD) and compassionate allowances (CAL) processes. The current rule will expire on November 13, 2015. In this proposed rule, we propose to remove that expiration date, so that the authority will continue beyond the current expiration date. Removing the expiration date will allow us to continue to make some favorable disability determinations more quickly. We are making no other substantive changes.
