Title: ●Investigative Policies for Organizational Representative Payees
Abstract:

We are requesting your comment on whether and how we should strengthen our investigative policies and practices for organizational representative payees.  Currently we only obtain and verify an Employer Identification Number (EIN) for organizational payee applicants.  We are considering expansion of our policy to prohibit individuals convicted of certain crimes from serving as representative payees under titles, II, VIII, and XVI of the Social Security Act (Act) to individuals within organizations.  If we propose specific revisions to our regulations, we will publish a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking in the Federal Register.
