Title: Endangered and Threatened Wildlife and Plants; Listing Determination for Two Foreign Macaw Species | |
Abstract:
We are making a final determination on whether to list two foreign parrot species--the military macaw (Ara militaris) and the great green macaw (Ara ambigua)--as endangered or threatened under the Endangered Species Act. The military macaw's range extends from northern Mexico southward into Ecuador, Peru, Columbia, Venezuela, Bolivia, and the southern tip of Argentina. The great green macaw is found in Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Honduras, and Ecuador. These two species have extremely small populations and fragmented habitats. |
