Title: Endangered and Threatened Wildlife and Plants; Critical Habitat Designation for the Highlands and Miami Tiger Beetles
Abstract:

We will, if determined prudent and determinable, designate critical habitat for the Highlands and Miami tiger beetles under the Endangered Species Act. We are required to designate critical habitat, to the maximum extent prudent and determinable, concurrent with listing determinations for species. We will develop listing determinations for the Highlands and Miami tiger beetles as a separate rulemaking action (RIN 1018-BA16). The Highlands tiger beetle is a species endemic to the scrub and sandhill habitat of sand dunes in Lake Wales Ridge in Polk and Highlands Counties, Florida. The Miami tiger beetle is a species endemic to the Richmond pine rocklands habitat in Miami-Dade County, Florida.
